Expert meeting on Gambia in transition starts

A two-day seminar of experts on governance, human rights and development opened at Sun Beach Hotel in Kotu yesterday.
It is organized by the
Centre for Research, Development and Social Justice Advocacy, CRESPSA.

Speaking at the event Dr Abou Jeng of CRESPSA, the conference organizer, said: “The successful implementation of the transition would fundamentally hinge on the formulation of realistic national strategic visions capable of addressing past wrongs and guiding transformative governance processes for the country”. He said the conference is one of many opportunities to help engage, through constructive conversations on these parameters that would be critical in strengthening public institutions and shaping development pathways for The Gambia.

The conference was formally opened by Vice President Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang and will feature presentation from prominent Gambian intellectuals on the three aforementioned topics.
