Officials of Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, an affiliate of ChildFund-The Gambia, Saturday convened what it called an ‘influential dialogue meeting’ with parents and its staff.
The initiative was staged to raise the awareness of influential leaders from Kombo North and South on the federation’s thematic activities and programs.
The one-day interactive session took place in Jambanjelly, and brought together top brasses of the federation, and people within its catchment areas.
Speaking at the event, the manager, Alieu Mendy, said the dialogue was an important component in the programs of Ding Ding Yiriwa.
He said: “We feel it important to bring all influential leaders within these two districts as well as the alkalolu, cluster presidents, youth groups and the imams will play a key role in the emerging needs of the federation.
“My role is actually to support the staff disseminate clear information to the participants to ensure that the dialogue is well organised and coordinated as well as to point the significance attaches to the meeting,” he said.
“We will be having this kind of meeting biannually with the influential leaders to ensure that the federation’s set target is realised,” he emphasised.
Lamin sanneh, the board chairperson, noted the importance of the meeting.
He stated: “We are a sponsorship entity and our sponsorship is based on the sponsorship we have from America. Meeting with the influential leaders is a very important event, these are leaders you need if you want any development as an entry point”.
