Consequently, the national football leagues which were put on hold in the wake of the suspensions are yet to resume.

Also, there has been no official public reaction from either the National Sports Council, NSC, or the Gambia Football Federation, GFF, to the reported Fifa letter on The Gambia’s football situation which called for the lifting of the suspensions on GFF president Mustapha Kebbeh and his three vice presidents, and the holding of an extraordinary elective congress thereafter.

The letter had initially given May 15 as the deadline failure of which a one-year ban would follow.

The Standard now reliably learnt that deadline has been extended to May 20, today, Tuesday.

On the eve of its expiry yesterday The Standard tried unsuccessfully to get comments from both the GFF and NSC officials. The outcome of the reported meeting between the GFF and MOYS at the Bakau stadium on Sunday has not been made known to the public.
