By Isatou Jawara Saite Darboe, a former soldier of the Gambia National Army intake 14, has opened a Pandora’s Box, with a chilling eyewitness account of the event of 11th November 1994. On that day, the then AFPRC Junta announced they had foiled a coup attempt led by Basirou Barrow in which some soldiers lost their lives in exchange of fire. However, speaking in a moving Bantaba interview with The Standard, Darboe began his startling revelations by alleging that there was in fact no coup but a cold-blood murder of soldiers by the Junta. A former soldier of the GNA from 1989 to 2000, Darboe also claimed he was an eye witness to mass burial of the dead soldiers killed at the Brikama Nyambai Forest. Darboe said he can point the exact location of the graves at Yundum Barracks. Read the full interview in our Bantaba column tomorrow]]>
