Cham is also a bureau member of the GNOC and in addition to serving as liaison officer between the (GNOC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the RIO 2016 Olympic Games, he will be coordinating all protocols on behalf of the National Olympic Committee at the games.
The 2016 summer Olympics Games will be held from 5th-21st August 2016 in Rio, Brazil.
Meanwhile Cham has began work in earnest. He told The Standard yesterday that The Gambia is doing well in the volleyball qualifiers though the same cannot be said of football.
“But even If The Gambia cannot attain Olympic qualification, it will still receive a wild – card for two athletes, one male and a female to represent the country as it was the case during the past games,” he said.
Cham said The Gambia’s biggest chances at any Olympics, is in athletics and he is still hopeful that Gambian athletes will do their utmost to gain qualification.
In the London 2012 Games, Gambian Swaibou Sanneh reached the sprint semi-final raising hopes that The Gambia could go further in the Rio Games.
