Young Mbour fisherman commits suicide
A tragedy occurred on Friday morning in the Château d’Eau neighborhood of Mbour. A young man named Cheikh Diallo—identified as a fisherman—was found dead. Army destroys 7 cannabis fields in Casamance
Senegalese military forces destroyed seven cannabis fields spanning over one hectare in northern Sindian, located in the Bignona Department of Casamance, on Thursday. Discovered during routine security sweeps over approximately eight kilometres northwest of Sindian, the illicit plantations were dismantled as part of an ongoing military counter-narcotics directive targeting illegal economic activities in southern Senegal. President Faye visits Fatwa Council chairman in Mauritania
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye over the weekend visited Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Council for Fatwa and President of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, during a stopover in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, on his return from Abu Dhabi to Dakar. President Faye and Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah discussed the importance of promoting the values of peace and coexistence, strengthening the role of religious and intellectual leaders in preventing conflicts and countering extremism, and supporting efforts to advance stability and development across Africa. Nouakchott is home to the headquarters of the African Conference for the Promotion of Peace, chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah.
