GAMBIA DRAWS GUINEA …faces destiny against Senegal Friday

The Young Scorpions came from behind to level scores one-all against Guinea at the SKD in Monrovia last night. The result means the Gambia must settle for nothing but a win against Senegal Friday to get their campaign on a sound footing. Guinea took the lead early in the match but could not stop the Scorpions from putting a reply in the 33 minute when Adama Jammeh superbly slot a glancing header to restore hope in Mattar Mboge’s camp.

Guinea looked more aggressive but had all efforts thwarted by agile Gambian keeper Yankuba Colley whose individual brilliance largely accounted for the Gambia’s safety from the marauding Guineans late into the game. With Mali beating Senegal in the first match last night, The Gambia cannot afford to slip on Friday in the Senegambia derby. Gambia’s Abdoulie Sarr was man of the match.
