Gambia gets Sierra Leone in women’s cup of nations first round

The Gambia’s women footballers the Queen Scorpions will face Sierra Leone in the first round of the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers. The draw took place in Cairo, Egypt on Monday conducted by CAF Senior Manager of Women Football & Futsal Heba Sarwat, assisted by Egyptian footballer Nadine Ghazy. A total of 22 pairings were made for the first round the first and second legs of which will hold between June 7th and 10th. Those who survive will proceed to the second with aggregate winners qualifying to join hosts Morocco in the final tournament.
