The Gambia Jamaa Party, which was announced by former Gambia For 5 Years founder Ebrima Sorrie Bah to be his party in the offing, has now been scrapped even before it was registered. It has now been turned into Ebrima Sorrie Bah Fan Club for NPP.

According to Mr Bah, who was addressing club members on Tuesday at Busumbala, the decision to drop the idea of forming a party came after some NPP executive members facilitated a mediation to reconcile him and President Adama Barrow.

“After the fruitful negotiation, we feel there is a need to drop the party and also to transform it to a fan club, where we can continue to support President Barrow’s agenda and also to guide him,” he said.

He said the country-wide tour of the club is designed to sensitise their regional executives and to discuss on how to engage in President Barrow’s 2021 re-election campaign. “We are going to be very loyal and genuine citizens and members of the NPP, but we are not going to condone corruption. We will expose malpractice in the government and we will make sure that will not happen anymore,” he said.

“So that is the reason why we are going back to President Barrow and his NPP, and we are given the assurance that our grievances have been really settled,” Sorrie Bah said.

Maimuna Gaye, acting chairperson of the fan club, also called on her fellow women to join and support President Barrow. The tour will continue to all the regions in The Gambia.
