According our sources, the Gambian team of home based players will play Mauritania in a friendly in exactly two weeks time in Banjul. It will be the first outing for the Gambian national team for a long time and observers believe the GFF is keen on bringing back the much missed full international football razzmatazz.
This paper also learnt that with the date now fixed for the freindly, other arrangements are currently being worked out between the GFF and their Mauritanian counterparts.
The Gambia has not played international matches at senior level for well over a year now in the wake of the recent Caf ban.
Now that the ban has been lifted, the GFF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports who pays coaches are both under pressure from the public to appoint coaches to resurrect international football.
