The Gambia armed forces will send 11 officers and 74 other ranks to take part in a multinational joint military maneuver dubbed “Exercise Gulf Shield 1” scheduled to take place in Dammam, kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to a release from the Gambia Armed Forces, the main purpose of the exercise is to integrate the armed forces from “friendly” countries in order to combat and counter threats and challenges of global terrorism.
Over fourteen countries including The Gambia are invited to take part by way of contributing troops to the joint military exercise.
The Gambian contingent is expected fly out early this morning.
