Gambian allegedly killed in Casamance military attack

A Gambian and a native of Pirang, Abdoulie Njie, was allegedly killed in Casamance during a reported military attack in a rebel zone.

A close relative of the deceased in Pirang confirmed the news to The Standard yesterday evening. Njie died a few days ago after Senegalese soldiers allegedly attacked a rebel base in Casamance.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said Njie’s body was found half-buried along with some of the slain rebels. He said his host in Casamance have since given him a befitting burial. The source said Njie’s hosts were in Pirang yesterday to extend their condolences.
