Gambian club pulls shock in Champions league

 By Lamin Cham

Gambian champions Fortune FC on Saturday shocked Algerian giants Es Setif 3-0, to step one foot in the next round of the champions league qualifiers.  They also became the first Gambian club to beat North African opposition so convincingly at home. Goals by Ebrima Bura Camara, Patrick Silva and Alieu Barry gave all the three points to Fortune FC.  The victory put the Gambian side in pole position to take the tie to the return leg on  Saturday.  Setif would need to score 4 goals without reply to turn the tie, a near impossible task, given the quality, determination and zeal in this Fortune team that made the nation proud over the weekend.

Meanwhile by some act of camedradeship, or business expediency, Fortune FC flew out on the same Air Algeria plane that  brought in Setif. The Gambian champions have already arrived in Algeria, a solid five days before the match, enough time to rest and prepare.
