Gambian-US politician Samba Baldeh visits

Samba Baldeh, a Gambian-American information technology professional and politician, is currently on a visit to the native land. Baldeh, a Democrat, is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 48th assembly district, comprising the northeastern half of the city of Madison. He is the first Muslim member of the Wisconsin Legislature.

“I am basically trying to connect the country to potential development out there,” he said of his visit.

Mr Baldeh is a native of Choya Village in Niamina East. He first migrated to the US in 1999 and in 2015, he ran and won election to the Madison city council representing District 17. Last year, he contested and won a seat in the Wisconsin state assembly representing District 48.
