The contingent consists of 208 security members including 9 officers and 199 other soldiers of various ranks. After over almost a year, the peacekeepers are set to return home.
The deadly conflict in Sudan’s western region of Darfur is still ongoing. The United Nations said on Thursday the conflict has resulted in the displacement of more than 41,000 people over the past two months alone.
Meanwhile, The Gambia Armed Forces is organising a welcoming ceremony for the arrival of Gamcoy17 troops at the Banjul International Airport,a press release from The Gambia Armed Forces indicated .

The ceremony will also witness the departure of another group of peacekeepers Gamcoy18 to Darfur.
