President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany will pay a two-day visit to The Gambia Wednesday, official sources revealed.
Mr Steinmeier will be the most senior German official to visit The Gambia in memory and reports have stated that he will be keen to explore the opportunity to revive and invigorate the relations between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels which went cold in the last 22 years of the Jammeh regime.
Germany, through the European Union, helps The Gambia’s development initiatives and currently the country is hosting many Gambian migrants seeking to stay in Europe.
According to unofficial sources, the visiting German leader will hold talks with President Barrow, as well as meet or address National Assembly members.
