In receiving the GFF team, Kanilai Farm Manager Brigadier General Essa Tamba expressed appreciation and gratitude to the GFF for their large turnout and helping hand to the president, saying the proceeds from the farms are ploughed back to the Gambian people. General Tamba said the President is poised to continue his undiluted support for the development of Gambian football and sports in general. He thanked the GFF president for his initiatives and assured him of President Jammeh’s assistance at all times.

The GFF President Lamin Kabba Bajo thanked the people of Kanilai for the warm hospitality accorded his team. He expressed GFF’s pleasure to work genuinely on the President’s farms describing him as the father of the nation. ‘His Excellency the President is the chief patron of the GFF and therefore coming here to lend him a hand is in the perfect direction’,” Bajo said.

He emphasised that it is the desire of the GFF to render selfless services to the President in the form of partnering with him in his crusade for food self sufficiency which according to the GFF boss ‘ is a genuine cause and  every Gambian must step up for it’. He further intimated that the GFF will continue to support the President to realise the Vision 2016 objectives.

He also cited the monetary benefits Gambian players received from the President after the team’s success at the African U-17 championship in Algeria, 2009 describing it as a milestone in Gambian sports. He said similar other contributions have been generated by the president to the GFF which according to Bajo entices the youth folk into sports particularly football.

Another speaker General Alhagie Martin thanked the GFF leadership and the volunteers for their good job on the farms. Martin expressed thanks and appreciations to the GFF leadership for the wisdom to work on the President’s farms. He assured the team of President Jammeh’s unflinching support to Gambian football.
