The Gambia Football Federation GFF has issued the 2017 -18 football calendar outlining the proposed dates for six major events that it say must be adhered to.
In a circular sent to all clubs and by extension the public, Football House says it intends to hold the Super Nawettan in October, on a date yet to be decided.

By tradition the start of the Super nawettan depends on the completion of most if not all Nawettans at all the 12 recognized centers but the organisers often imposed deadlines too to ensure compliance with the schedule time.
In the same month on the 20th, to be exact, the annual club management meeting will take place, where traditionally, matters dealing with the coming league season are discussed, example cash prizes and other incentives.

According to the schedule the Second Division league will start on the weekend of November 8 and 9 while the Super Cup for men takes place on November 10. The female Super Cup follows, on November 11 while the actual race for the national football title, the first division league kicks-off on November 18. Reacting to the calendar senior official of one of the zones describe the proposed period for the Super Nawettan as ‘reasonable’ but expressed fears that it will spillover November unless it takes place in very early October.
“I think also the Super Nawettan is too big and popular to be rushed as it si the case each year. The GFF must find a way to designate adequate time. Let say even a month to this very popular and most followed event. It is for too beautiful to be rushed and crowded in fixtures like a warga warga tournament.” he teasingly posited.
