President Adama Barrow will this morning receive Gambian athletics sensation Gina Bass and the rest of the Gambian team to the just ended African Games in Morocco.
According to sources close to the delegation the president will meet the entire delegation to the games and their officials at 11 am at state house to register his gratitude and happiness about their performance at the Games.
The delegation recorded the most successful sporting achievement for the country in recent times.
While the Men’s beach Volleyball took the African championship in remarkable fashion, the Gambian track queen Gina Bass became the fastest woman in Africa in 200 meters.
The men’s relay team too finished with an improved new national record which also makes them the 4th best in Africa.
”It could never have been better than this,” said GAA president Dodou Joof who received Gina Bass and others at his residence last night.
The huge success in Rabat by both Volleyball and athletics is expected to inspire the government to look into the direction of the smaller national sports associations when it comes to funding.
