Gov’t in process of procuring D250M worth of farm equipment

The coordinator of the Central Project Coordinating Unit (CPCU) of the Ministry of Agriculture has disclosed that the ministry in collaboration with the government of Japan is already in the process of procuring farm equipment worth 250 million Dalasi.
Momodou Mbye Jabang said the equipment are meant to address some concerns of farmers to enhance their agricultural productivity.

He made this disclosure during the last day of the Ministry of Agriculture’s tour while speaking to the press.
Jabang revealed that the Ministry of Agriculture has procured 21 brand new power tillers meant for 21 GCAV horticultural gardens. “The head of horticulture at the department of agriculture has come up with strong guidelines on how these equipment will be distributed to the farmers,” he said.

According to Mr. Jabang as soon as they are ready in putting the sustainable mechanism in place, the 21 power tillers will be distributed to the said horticultural garden farmers to help them in their production.
Regarding the concerns raised by farmers on the issues of feeder roads, Mr. Jabang said: “We want to reach to the most remote village to support them having access to feeder roads.”
