The Gambia government has revoked the diplomatic passports of 271 people, many of them former officials, including former President Yahya Jammeh, his wife and entire cabinet members.
Curiously, the list also includes Dr Zakir Naik, the controversial Indian Muslim cleric Jammeh befriended and invited twice to preach in The Gambia.

The move came amid increasing calls for a thorough review of diplomatic passports given under the hand of former President Yahya Jammeh amid claims that some might have been undeserved or the entire system abused.

Saikou Ceesay, the Communications officer at the Foreign Ministry confirmed the development.
Meanwhile The Standard has laid hands on the full list of people affected produced on page 5.
