GRA starts month training for clearing & forwarding agents

The Gambia National Single Window, under the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), serving as the implementing agent, in partnership with Nick TC Scan Ltd, has started a one-month intensive training programme on the Gambia National Single Window System (GNSW) second phase for all clearing and forwarding agencies nationwide.

As a centralised digital platform, the GNSW simplifies trade by allowing users to submit all import and export documentation through a single interface, eliminating the need to engage multiple government agencies. To further enhance process efficiency and support the GRA’s domestic resource mobilisation efforts, the system integrates several key modules with the ASYCUDA World System: Duty Waiver, Scanning System, E-tracking, Automated Cargo Tracking System, for containerised cargo, and a Weight bridge. Together, these technologies enable real-time data sharing, faster cargo clearance, improved compliance, and a reduced administrative burden for traders.

Speaking at the training, Mr Musa Saidykhan, Project Manager of the National Single Window System and Director of ICT and Digitalisation at GRA, highlighted the authority’s broader role in national development by mobilising much-needed domestic resources for government. He noted that this advanced administrative training phase is designed to equip clearing and forwarding agencies with the skills to operate effectively within the platform. Mr Saidykhan added that participants will now be able to independently create and manage user accounts, marking a significant milestone in decentralising access and improving operational efficiency. He noted that these integrated platforms are developed by young Gambians, which proves that we have local talent capable of developing tools that could improve the efficiency of service delivery. The first part of the training is geared towards Administrators, which includes how to onboard their agencies and create and manage their own user. The second part of the training, which covers general use of the system, starts next week. He urged all clearing and forwarding agencies to take the training seriously, without which they would not be able to operate.

The training is part of the GRA/Gambia National Single Window Project, leveraging technology to improve service delivery, strengthen compliance, and position The Gambia as a more competitive, trade-friendly economy.
