The Second edition of the GTBank sponsored Principals’ Cup kicked off Monday at the independence Stadium in Bakau.
The football championship competed by Senior Secondary Schools is organised by The Gambia Secondary Schools Football Association under the auspices of The Gambia Football Federation and sponsored by GTBank Gambia Limited. Eight schools each sending both a male and the female team will compete for D100, 000.00 and D75, 000.00 and 50, 000 cash prizes for winners and runners-up 1 and runners up 2 respectively, among other prizes.
In the opening games on Monday Armitage boys, finalists last year defeated debutants Sheikh Mass Kah 3 goals to 1 in a mouth watering encounter. In other results in the male category, Tahir won 2-0 against Essau. Mahad too won 3-1 against Nasir and while Gambia Senior drew 1-1 with Mingdaw.
Female category results:
Gambia Senior beat Sitanunku 3-while defending Champions Muslim Senior beat arch rivals Bottrop 1-0. Nyakoi drew goalless with Armitage while Mingdaw beat Tahir 1 nil. The final is scheduled for Sunday 18 June, at the Independence Stadium where entrance will be free.
