The Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau Omar Al Motarr Sisoho Mballow visited Banjul yesterday and met President Adama Barrow. He is the first most senior official to visit Banjul after the new government took power.

“I am here in transit from Dakar to see President Barrow who is my big brother. In any case I’m supposed to come here because Gambia is my country too. That’s why I can come here anytime. It is like coming back to my home,” Prime Minister Mballow told waiting journalists at the Banjul International Airport.
He said he was able to brief President Barrow about the political situation in Guinea Bissau.

“I also discussed the issue with president Macky Sall yesterday ahead of meeting of Ecowas on the issue in Monrovia soon,” he said.
He described relations between Gambia and Guinea Bissau brotherly and very cordial as the people have the same family roots.

In response, President Barrow   welcomed the Guinean PM describing his visit as important.
“He gave us support and he is still giving us support. That means we are not alone. He is a friend and a politician, so these things match together,” Barrow said.
