The family of Touray Kunda in Serekunda London Corner, who recently lost all their belongings including their home in a tragic fire incident two weeks ago, have called on the Gambia Government and all philanthropists to come to their aid.

According to the family, there were no casualties, but the fire which started in the early hours of that very fateful day, had burnt the entire nine-room building and several other materials worth over D75, 000.
Speaking to The Standard yesterday about the condition of the family since the unfortunate fire incident, the compound owner Omar Touray, said hopes are already shattered because they don’t even have rooms to sleep in.

“We have lost everything in that fire and as you can see, we have nowhere to sleep. As the head of the family I have made many efforts but nothing has come forward and is worrying for me, especially in the coming Ramadan,” he added.

He said the only thing the family badly needs right now is shelter. “We want to call on the government to help and all Gambians who can to support us,” he said.
Mammy Touray, a sister to Omar Touray, re-echoed similar sentiments, saying “we need support immediately in the areas of shelter.”
