A 24-year-old housewife residing in Jiboro, West Coast Region, Monday told the Brikama Magistrates Court that she was raped in front of her husband by one Jawo Bah, a Guinean. She said Jawo held both herself and her husband captive threatening to kill them.
Testifying as the first prosecution witness, she informed the court that on 18 May 2018 she and her husband were at a quarry [where they live] when Jawo came there with a cutlass around late night threatening that he will kill them if he found them there again.

“I had a mobile phone and he forcefully took it from me and some money from my husband. After taking money from my husband, he told him that he will have sex with me,” Lama told the court.
According to her, Jawo also had a knife and went ahead to seize her torch light.
“He pulled out the knife and forced me to have sex with him.”

She further told the court that she and her husband reported the matter to Sibanor Police Station where a female police officer accompanied them to Sibanor Health Center where she was given medicine.
Alfusainey Jallow, her husband, a watchman at the said quarry, said: “I just woke up and I saw him sitting on me while I was in my bed. I asked him what he was doing there at that time of the night and told me this was his work place. He was sitting on me for 25 minutes and asking me what I have for him. I asked him what he meant by that. He said I should give him money. I told him that at this moment, I have only D600.00 which I gave him.

“From there he said to me that now you have to give me your wife and he pulled out his knife.”
The trial magistrate Peter Adoh Che adjourned the matter to Friday.
The accused person is facing two counts bordering on robbery and rape.
