IEC sets nomination guidelines

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) yesterday issued details of the nomination process for the April 12 councilors’ election.
According to the IEC nomination for councilors across the country will begin on Tuesday 13 March and will be opened to all 9 registered political parties and people who wish to become independent candidates.
The nominations will take place at IEC regional offices across the country from Tuesday 13th to Saturday 17th March between 8am to 4pm daily.

In the same vein, the commission emphasised that independent candidates shall also be received on each day at 3pm from the same day to March 16th 2018.
Candidates and their parties are expected to file in their nomination papers as follows;
Tuesday 13th APRC at 10am and NCP at 1PM; Wednesday 14th f GDC – 10am and GMC – 1PM; Thursday 15th UDP – 10am and GPDP -1PM; Friday 16th NRP -10am and PPP – 1pm; Saturday 17th PDOIS – 10am and Independent candidates 1pm respectively.
