“Aluworld is an Italian company and is registered here in The Gambia. In Italy, the company is called ALPAR but here [in The Gambia] the registered name is Aluworld and the ‘alu’ is for aluminum and currently they are operating in The Gambia, Russia, Italy and the United State of America. They want to raise awareness about the company first before they bring in the factory,” he said. “The Gambia is chosen as the gateway to our sub-region and we thank God that it was due to our peace and stability.  Investors don’t go to where they will struggle and these [investors] are coming here because they want to do business in peace and communicate with each other.  So it pays dividends in which people will come here to do business. The Gambia has always been a soft landing for investors to penetrate the sub-region.”

According to Mr Drammeh, Aluworld products including aluminum doors and windows are first-class in terms of quality and have attracted customers in other African countries including Togo and Congo.

“The reason why we want to do this is here because they want also to use the factory to create employment. When they start producing, we will have our citizens employed and they will learn new skills and earning money. We also plan to take one or two people to Italy for like six months to work in the factory there before we start operation here in The Gambia.”

Mr Drammeh further stated that development does not start from the head but it is a mental operation in which people should be able to think and design things. “That’s why during the upcoming business forum, the main actors will be building contractors, consultants, designers and those who are in market. This forum will take place on the 16 of February at Senegambia Beach Hotel by Aluworld where they will display their products. Aluworld is coming here and change the business landscape of our country because they will be here to do the good things they want to do. They produce furniture as well and a lot of other things and we are ask people whose work is related to Aluworld’s to come and attend the forum at Senegambia Beach Hotel.”
