Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court in Banjul will today at 1.00pm deliver judgment in the criminal trial involving the state against Yankuba Touray, ex-junta member in the erstwhile Yahya Jammeh government.
Yankuba Touray served as Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council cabinet minister and Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) national mobilizer in the Jammeh government.
The state alleged that Yankuba Touray participated in the murder of Ousman Koro Ceesay, a cabinet minister in June 1995 in which a pestle-like object was used in beating him to death at his residence in Kerr Serign.
The prosecution called nine witnesses and tendered several exhibits to prove its case against Touray. The accused called his sister-in- law, Awa Minteh, his wife, Mamie Minteh and himself to defend against the allegations of his involvement in the death of Ousman Koro Ceesay.
Both the prosecution led by Principal state counsel A.M Yusuf and lawyer Abdulai Sissoho adopted their respective briefs of argument last month, 14th June, 2021 and the matter was adjourned to the today, 14th July, 2021 for judgment.
The trial that started on the 19th July 2019 will come to a close today when Yankuba Touray’s fate will be determined.
