The Super Nawettan Organising Committee SOC yesterday confirmed that all matches in this year’s zonal championship will take place at local grounds. The committee held a final modality meeting with the GFF yesterday where they succeeded in convincing the federation to have the matches held at local grounds.
‘We are now deliberating on piecing the dates and venues in the fixtures as well as selecting the two teams that will stage a grand opening of the tourney on November 24”, a SOC official told The Standard.
Meanwhile after sealing the approval of the GFF to stage the tourney at local grounds, Soc officials have now adopted far reaching new regulations aim at curbing violence in the tourney. Henceforth any zone that is guilty of inciting violence will be banned from organising its own nawettan for three years and will not also play in the super nawettan for five years. Similar stiff punishment awaits individuals who are found guilty of violence. The new rules have been agreed all SOC officials are now binding.
