The President of the Majmou Atu Rawdatil Majaalis The Gambia, has spoken of how committed his organisation is towards the upholding of the ‘lofty principles of Islam and tolerance.’
Baba Abubacarr Drammeh made these remarks over the weekend in a Standard exclusive at the organisation’s office in Faji-Kunda.
He called on Gambians to refrain from all forms of violence.
“Let them also refrain themselves from character and personal vilification against innocent people, leveling false accusations against individuals, group of people, organisations, agencies among others,” he advised as Muslims enter the final week of the Holy month of Ramadan.
He said the Muslim Ummah should have respect for human rights, tradition and customs relevant to the teaching of the Islamic principles as provided for in the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
He enjoined all Gambians to unequivocally pledge their loyalty and allegiance to the State in order to consolidate security, stability and development for the welfare, progress and prosperity of the Gambian citizenry.
“The organisation is fully ready and unconditionally committed to reconciliation efforts and we will do away with any act of provocation especially between the Muslim Ummah,” he said.
