Honourable Majanko Samusa, the interim leader of the National Convention Party and a nominated member of the National Assembly, has claimed that he is still the leader of the NCP, in response to announcement that he has been expelled.

The NCP over the weekend announced in a press attachment that Mr Samusa has been expelled from the party since July 9 and has been replaced by one Yaya Sanyang.
The statement further stated that henceforth no one should communicate with Mr Samusa on NCP matters.
However when contacted, Mr Samusa dismissed the announcement as not a serious act.

“How can people who in fact came from a different party [in this case APRC] claim they can expel a member of the NCP? As far as I know these people are merely talking. I am still the leader of the NCP,” Samusa said.
The NCP did not give any further details as to what instigated its decision. The supposed new leader Yaya Sanyang is a reputable senior citizen who worked mostly for NGO including a stint as country director at APSO, in addition to senior positions at Action Aid, Concern Universal among others.
