The former spokesman of the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress, Mambanyick Njie has been appointed administrative secretary of President Barrow’s National Peoples Party.
The news was confirmed toThe Standard by Mr Njie himself. However, he denied rumours that Ounda Nyang has been dismissed as the NPP KMC chairman.
Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media suggested that Mambanyick Njie has replaced Ounda Nyang as the KM chairman.
But Njie said that is totally false. “I am a Niuminka, how can I be chairman of the NPP in KM? It doesn’t make any sense,” he commented.
Meanwhile The Standard has also been informed that Alkali Conteh has been appointed as senior administrative secretary of the NPP, whiles Lamin Cham is campaign manager, Dodou Sanno, assistant campaign manager and the minister of local government, Musa Drammeh, treasurer.
Mr Njie could not confirm these reported appointments, saying he knows only of his own, which started since April 1.
