Magistrate Darboe of the Brikama court yesterday remanded one Lamin Jawara to Mile 2 prison for allegedly killing his son Modou Lamin Jawara in Busumbala village.
Mr Jawara, who was not represented by any lawyer, did not take his plea.
When the case was called, police prosecutor Sub Inspector ML Barrow applied for the matter to be transferred to the High Court, on the grounds that the magistrate court lacks the jurisdiction to hear and determine the case.
The court granted the application and ordered for the accused to be remanded, pending his formal appearance at the High Court.
Prosecutors alleged that the accused, Lamin Jawara, on March 20 this year, at Busumbala, caused the death of one Modou Lamin Jawara, his son, by hitting him with his hands all over his body.
