One Momodou Sowe of Mandinaring, Kombo North, yesterday hanged himself in the bushes behind the village, moments after grievously wounding his wife in the neck and fingers with a machete.
The wife was rushed to and admitted at the hospital and was said to be responding well to treatment yesterday.
Reliable sources in the village told The Standard that the attack on the woman happened early yesterday morning in Joof Kunda compound in Mandinaring where the couple, believed to be Guineans, are tenants.
“People were alerted to the screams of the woman and when help arrived she was already bleeding profusely. A little later the husband’s hanged body was found dangling from a tree,” our source added.
Police spokesman Inspector Foday Conta confirmed the incident saying the matter was being investigated.
“Our investigation team is monitoring the woman’s progress in the hospital and will surely interview her when possible to know more,” PRO Conta said.
