One Samba Thioune, who was arrested in Sukuta Nema last week for allegedly sexually attacking a 9-year-old girl, was yesterday arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ court charged with indecent assault.
Mr Thioune, who is from Kaur, was slammed with single count of indecent assault.
When the charge was read to him by the court interpreter in Wollof, the accused denied any wrongdoing.
Police prosecutor Inspector A Sambou told the court that the incident happened on November 11 in Sukuta Nema and the accused indecently assaulted the child by forcing his finger into her private part.
Police prosecutor Inspector Sambou applied to the court for adjournment to enable him to call his witnesses, and he did not raise any objection to the bail, saying that since the offence is bailable, it is at the discretion of the court.
The presiding Magistrate Dawda Fatty granted the accused person bail in the sum of D25, 000 with two Gambians sureties, before adjourning the matter to 3 December 2020 for full hearing.
