Manjai and Lamin light up Group A

Lamin and Manjai made flying starts to their campaign in the current Super Nawettan championship with both pulling comfortable 2-0 victories over Brufut and Serekeunda Central respectively.

At the SereKunda East Park, the 2011 champions Lamin went ahead on resumption after a goalless first half.  The second half opened with pressure on both sides to break through. Lamin were awarded a penalty which they coolly converted in the 52nd minute to open the scores with the first goal of the match that dispirited Brufut.

Later in the same half Ousainou Manneh headed home the second for Lamin to give them a flying start to the Super Nawettan and joint top place in the group.

Manjai Kunda were always expected to see off little-fancied and inexperienced Serekunda Central in the other group match they hosted at the Father Gough Complex. They too beat the whipping boys of last year 2-0.

With the opening game between Banjul and Serekunda West   ending goalless on Sunday, last night’s results put Manjai and Lamin in pole position to reach the next stage of the tourney,   though four more encounters await each of them in the group.
