Freedom online news site reported mid-week that Mr Darboe and his brother who serves as acting commissioner general of GRA, Yankuba Darboe, were arrested over the weekend and detained at the NIA headquarters in Banjul.

“There is no iota of truth whatsoever to such reports. Mr Darboe is a free man who has not committed any crime and as we speak he is at liberty going about his business as usual. It is very unfortunate that such a generous man who always uses his wealth to support the poor and needy is being subjected to such calumny and false reporting. The name of such a good person should not be dragged in the mud.

“This news has been a great surprise to Mr Darboe. Concerned people have been calling him from all over the country and from abroad enquiring about his well-being. Modou Turo is not a civil servant and he has not committed any crime. He is a patriotic citizen of this country and he is committed to continuing the great job he has been doing for the poor people of this country,” the sourced articulated.

Meanwhile, since the false reports of the arrest and detention of the Darboe brothers was released by the Freedom news site, scores of Modou Turo Darboe’s friends and family members have visited his  Fajikunda compound to express their solidarity with him.

Modou Turo Darboe and Yankuba Darboe were not available for immediate comments on the matter.
