The deputy managing director of the national water and electricity company has stressed that while his company is aware of the frustration of its customers over the erratic power supply, it will be important to state that there are no assurances that the situation can be fixed over-night or magically.
Nani Juwara said the demand for electricity in The Gambia is higher than what the company can produce.
“Power generation capacity is always below the demand of the people. We are doing everything possible to solve the problem, but electricity is expensive and we will need time,” he told journalists at the NAWEC conference hall on Friday.
Juwara further revealed that NAWEC did not have the adequate resources to ensure that electricity supply is constant and stable but assured that they are doing all they can to restore things to normalcy.
