His Royal Highness King Dr Appolus Chu, The Egbere Emere Okori Eleme of Rivers State, Nigeria, has arrived in the country early this morning.
HRH Dr Chu, who is one of the most prominent kings in Nigeria, is set to receive an award at the 15th Africa Security Watch Awards, Conference and Exhibition being held in The Gambia.
The king will receive the award alongside presidents Barrow, Buhari and other dignitaries from around Africa.
The international coordinator and CEO of Africa Security Watch Awards Conference and Exhibition, Patrick Agbambu, earlier told this paper: “The award night themed ‘Effective Leadership and Good Governance and Share for Extremist and Insecurity in Africa’, is meant to blow the African trumpet and as well showcase the stellar leadership qualities of the president and projecting him as a model for national service in Africa.”

During his visit to The Gambia, the popular Nigerian king is expected to meet several government dignitaries among them the Minister of Local Government. He is also expected to visit Brikama where he will be welcomed and feted by the royal Bojang clan, one of the prominent ruling families in the country.
The visit to Brikama is facilitated by Hon Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay (FJC), a former National Assembly Speaker who is now a consultant on governance, peace and conflict resolution. Mrs Jahumpa-Ceesay is working on a peace summit for kings and traditional rulers in the Ecowas region in 2019.
HRH King Dr Appolus Chu and his entourage are expected to return to Nigeria early Saturday morning.
