Following our story about the absconding of six Gambian migrant workers in Spain yesterday, the Ministry of Trade and Employment has clarified that in fact out of 37 Gambians due back home following the completion of their 3 months seasonal work in Spain, only 4 have returned home, 31 are believed to have absconded while 2 are known to have missed their flight.
According to Permanent Secretary Mod Secka, arrangements are being made for the return of the two who were stranded in Spain after missing their flight.
“So as of now ( yesterday), only 4 out of the 37 are back home after completing their 3 months stint in Spain. However we are expecting the stranded two also to return,” PS Secka added.
