The Standard has been reliably informed that the leader of the People’s Progressive Party, Papa Njie has been appointed The Gambia’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to our source, Mr Njie will pretty soon leave to take up his new job at Abuja. It is not however immediately known what will become of his role as the Secretary General of the PPP.
The Standard tried contacting him on the fate of his position in the PPP but he could not be reached on the phone.
Meanwhile, a highly placed government source has also informed The Standard that Professor Muhammadou Kah, the former vice chancellor of the University of The Gambia has been appointed the Gambian representative to the EU in Brussels.
