The Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly suspended the hearing on the Gambia Groundnut Corporation (GGC) 2015 and 2016 Annual Report and Financial Statement because the board members were absent.
The committee is chaired by Serekunda representative Halifa Sallah who told the GGC officials that they cannot present the corporation’s reports and financial statements in the absence of the board members.
Mr Sallah informed the officials that if they deem the past board members or management could be of any help to them they should invite them to join them at the National Assembly for the presentation of the reports.
He said it is a constitutional requirement that a report must be presented within three months after the end of its financial term by the head of the institution.
The GGC is expected to return to the Assembly on Friday 16 November for submission of their reports which will be slated for review on Monday, 19 November.
