The road expansion and the new VVIP terminal are part of the strategic priorities in preparation for the OIC summit next year while the airport rehabilitation project is aimed at enhancing the country’s regional competitiveness in travel and tourism.

Under the OIC infrastructure projects, the Bertil Harding Highway – one of the major arterial boulevards in the Greater Banjul Area, will be expanded into a dual carriageway of three lanes on each side. It will be equipped with streetlights, drainage, and sidewalks. The contract has been divided into two phases to save time while maintaining quality.

Once completed, the road will ease the burden of movement in the country, boost commerce, and improve the urban outlook of the country. Similarly, the building of a modern presidential pavilion at the country’s only international airport will uplift its image and standards in line with international protocol and high-level reception requirements.
