Rape victim tells court her ordeal

A rape victim (name withheld) yesterday narrated her harrowing experience at the hands of Elhadj Cissé, a Senegalese who she accused raped her on 30 December, 2019 in Gidda Forest in Brikama.

The prosecution led by Cadet Inspector Kemo Manneh opened its case with the victim who testified as the first prosecution witness before Magistrate Peter Che of the Brikama court.
She said at about 9pm on the day, she hired a taxi driven by the accused who sped towards Gidda Forest.

She said upon enquiry, Cissé told her he was taking her to Gidda Forest.
She narrated that upon reaching the area, the accused stopped and she opened the door and started running away but he chased and caught her, kicked her and beat her all over her body when she fell down.

She said Cissé forcibly undressed her and had carnal knowledge of her.
She told the court that she was rescued by a hunter who arrested the accused and took them to Gidda Police Post.
