A news release from The Gambia Football Federation GFF said it has been informed by Caf of this latest development adding that Caf is still awaiting a decision from the Liberia Football Association regarding the next venue of the said match before the schedule date.
The match cannot be played in Liberia after Caf said Monrovia is not safe for the Gambian team and international match officials. BYC then announced that their return leg will be played in Bamako. It is not known how the sudden change came about.
Meanwhile, Real de Banjul yesterday confirmed on its website that the match has been called off for now. They added that the news came just shortly before they set out for the journey to Bamako .
“The Club has contacted The Gambia Football Federation and expressed its disappointment with the said decision,” Real noted on their website.
