Scholar Athletes For Change (SAC) a charitable organization that aims to excel in both academics and sports, will start its annual summer camp at the Independence Stadium. The camp will run until August 4. It was founded nine years ago by Pierre Jallow a Gambian professional basketball player based in Finland, who together with SAC’S board of directors and members organized educative, and rewarding annual summer camps for children between the ages of 10 to 17, teaching them the basics of basketball, handball and football.
The objective of SAC is to bring children together during the summer vacation to teach them skills in basketball, Volleyball, Football and Handball, good nutritional habits and sensitize them on the communicable diseases common in our society, like HIV/AIDS and so on,’ a statement from the Camp officials said yesterday.
In 2014 SAC collaborated with the YMCA, The Gambia with whom it now has had a strong partnership all these years in organizing the camp.
Activities of the 2017 summer camp includes: the teaching of Basketball, Volleyball, Football and Handball
