The medical report indicates that a cardiac ultrasound scan showed that Isatou had a severe heart disease caused by rheumatic fever which can strike any young child without warning. It also said the rheumatic fever has caused the following heart abnormalities: A dilated left atrium and ventride with mitral valve incompetence.

Isatou is currently being treated at the MRC clinical services department but she urgently needs an operation which cannot be done in The Gambia.

Individuals or organisations wishing to help can contact MRC Unit, the Gambia on 00220-4495442/6, her parents 9949176, or the councillor of Busumbala ward on 720 9412.
