Sheikh Sedia Bayo, the political activist who is entangled in a legal battle with Cocoa Ocean Resort and Spa yesterday intimated to the high court in Banjul, presided over by Justice Buba Jawo that he intends to hire the services of a lawyer to represent him in the case.
“I want this case to be adjourned to Thursday because I want to hire a lawyer and secondly, I couldn’t access my bank in France because they don’t open on Mondays,” Bayo said. He further said that the adjournment will enable him to facilitate the submission of the documents requested by the court and his prospective lawyer has said he will only be available on Thursday.
Lawyer Njie, representing Coco Ocean then reacted that it is Bayo’s constitutional right to be represented by a lawyer but she however applied for the court’s registrar to confirm to the court that Bayo has fulfilled all the conditions ordered by the court in the last sitting.
The court granted the application and called for the registrar, who confirmed that Bayo fulfilled all the conditions.
The case was then adjourned to Thursday for continuation and for Bayo to produce the documents earlier requested.
