The proposed items also provide the NSC with powers to revoke such licences when necessary.
In their intervention at Monday’s discussions, SJAG president Sainabou Kujabi-Njie and members Essa Jallow and Pa Moodu Faal raised strong objections to the proposal and called for it to be removed from the draft describing it as an attack on press freedom. They also clarified that the SJAG is a professional body and not a national sports association and therefore does not fall under the control of the NSC.
In response, the deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Yusupha Kah, said the concerns of the journalists were noted.
Meanwhile the SJAG members yesterday unanimously called for the swift deletion of the proposed items.]]>
